| Although the
Louisiana Open is the state's oldest professional golf
tournament, dating back to the 1920s, it was not until
it was incorporated into a non-profit organization in
1986 that a sincere focus on charitable organization was
established. As a first year member of the then Ben Hogan Tour in 1992, the tournament distributed $14,000 dollars to three
local charities.
Since then, a total of over $3 million has been donated to
charities in the Acadiana area. The Chitimacha Louisiana Open prides itself on being one of the top stops on the Nationwide Tour in terms of volunteers,
hospitality and charitable dollars donated..
